MODALITIES
I believe each client and challenge is unique, and I tailor my approach and treatment plan accordingly. The modalities or forms of therapy shown at the right have been successful with individuals struggling with a broad range of issues and diagnoses. In addition to theses evidence-based treatments, I work from a strengths-based perspective to empower my clients to recognize their inner strength and value.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an empirically based form of treatment that recognizes how our thoughts have a significant impact on how we feel and behave. With this understanding, the goal of CBT is to identify and change the negative, maladaptive ways we think about ourselves, others and situations to positively influence our mood and behaviors.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a form of therapy that is helpful for individuals who struggle with overwhelming emotions. The four modules - Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness - teach individuals how to accept, tolerate and manage their emotions as well as how to develop and maintain healthy social relationships. Originally developed for individuals struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder, DBT has been shown to be effective with many other diagnoses and challenges.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), a form of behavioral therapy, utilizes the concepts of acceptance and mindfulness when dealing with painful emotions. These principles, in addition to making commitments to engage in healthy, pro-social activities that support core values and beliefs lead clients to experience greater psychological flexibility.
